We, the undersigned citizens of Texas, call on the Texas legislators to reject any
proposals banning products containing legal hemp: a decision that would harm
veterans, senior citizens, patients, and consumers across the state.
Any ban would deprive Texans of natural alternatives for treating chronic pain,
anxiety, and sleep disorders throughout the state. A hemp ban also threatens small businesses and farmers in Texas who depend on hemp production for their livelihoods. The industry was last estimated to be worth $8 billion in 2022 and has grown year-over-year.
We encourage the legislature to support additional, thoughtful regulation, such as age restrictions for purchasing, and child- resistant packaging, that ensure product safety without the elimination of these products for Texans.
Hemp is not a threat but a resource that helps countless Texans lead healthier,
more fulfilling lives. Please protect adult Texans’ right to individually choose safe and effective alternatives for their own happiness and well-being.
