What's at Stake

The language passed both the House and the Senate in a CR funding bill meant to open the government from a prolonged shutdown. The language will:

• Redefine hemp in a way that invalidates the compliant genetics developed under the 2018 Farm Bill.
• Ban 99% of hemp products already legal under robust state-regulated programs.
• Jeopardize U.S. farmers by eliminating the strongest end market for their crop.
• Threaten over 300,000 jobs across America.

This language isn't about safety—it's about shutting down a thriving, tax-paying industry. Farmers, manufacturers, retailers, and regulators all oppose Section 759.

Why This Matters

Congress has had years to address FDA's failure to regulate hemp. Instead of solving the problem, a few lawmakers are trying to eliminate the industry altogether.
